KAWASAKI MICROELECTRONICS (K-MICRO) ADOPTS CONSISTENT WORLDWIDE NAME AND BRAND
Unified Brand Will Better Serve Company’s Core Markets
SAN JOSE, Calif. – July 26, 2004 – Kawasaki Microelectronics (K-micro), a leader in advanced yet affordable ASICs, today announced it has adopted a unified worldwide name, Kawasaki Microelectronics, and brand to present a consistent image in all the markets served by the company. The official abbreviation for the company name is K-micro. As part of this strategy, the company also announced that it has changed the name of its North American subsidiary from Kawasaki LSI USA, Inc. to Kawasaki Microelectronics America, Inc., adopted a new logo, and transitioned to a new website address, "www.k-micro.us". K-micro’s innovative core technologies and world-class design support are used in consumer electronics, computer, office-automation, networking, wireless, and electronic-storage products.
"Customers are starting to recognize us as the leader in advanced yet affordable ASIC technology. However, the lack of a common name and brand around the world was hindering our marketing efforts to get even broader recognition," said Tadao Hosomi, president of K-micro America. "As the fastest growing major ASIC company, we have market momentum and will be expanding into Europe later this year. This is an important step in moving us towards our goal of one billion dollars ($1,000,000,000) in revenues by the end of this decade."
