ARRIVE TECHNOLOGIES, INC. PARTNERS WITH K-MICRO TO PROVIDE ASIC SOLUTIONS FOR ARRIVE’S REVOLUTIONARY MULTI-SERVICE HYBRID ETHERNET & PDH ADM-ON-A-CHIP PRODUCT
Arrive’s highly integrated feature and SerDes-rich AT4848 targeted for next-generation broadband
customer premises, access and metro-edge networking equipment
SAN JOSE, CA and ROSEVILLE, CA, – April 2, 2007 – Arrive Technologies, Inc. an innovator in broadband silicon technology, and K-micro, a leader in advanced ASICs, today announced that Arrive is delivering its AT4848 multi-service single chip Hybrid Ethernet & PDH ADM based on K-micro advanced ASIC technology.
“A dramatic transition from the legacy circuit switched technology to the new Ethernet based transport technology is underway in the Access, Edge and Metro networks,” said Arrive founder, Tom Eames. “This transition is fueled by the dramatic growth of DSL, Cable Modem and Triple Play residential broadband services, business Carrier Ethernet services and 3G RAN wireless broadband backhaul. Our OC-48/STM-16 AT4848 Hybrid Ethernet & PDH ADM product is designed for these next-generation Ethernet packet services while continuing to support a smooth transition from legacy circuit switched services. The AT4848 supports HDLC, ATM, SPI-3 and RPR while at the same time GFP for Ethernet over PDH and VCAT SONET/SDH with VLAN/MPLS support. The AT4848 can replace as many as ten chips compared to alternative solutions and provides the broadest functionality at the lowest cost and power point available today. We needed an ASIC partner that could implement our leading-edge design at affordable prices. After evaluating a number of ASIC suppliers, we concluded that K-micro clearly was the best choice.”
The integrated features of the AT4848 Hybrid Ethernet/PDH ADM provide advantages in a system applications including:
“The combination of Arrive’s sophisticated design and K-micro’s advanced ASIC technology, including our advanced Multi-Rate SerDes, enables the single chip AT4848, to replace many chips, resulting in significant system-level power, board space, and cost savings,” said Joel Silverman, vice president of Technology Solutions, K-micro. “We expect Arrive’s AT4848 to be very well received by networking equipment manufacturers.”
